After your trademark application has been filed.

Next steps.

You have successfully navigated your application preparation and filing.

What’s next? Make sure that you have received an email confirming your application has been filed. If you have an attorney, they will receive correspondence from the USPTO on your behalf. Email correspondence is easily overlooked, so make sure that you check frequently, and that your email is current on your application. If you need to change your email or address information, refer to the USPTO’s Change of Address or Representation (CAR) Form in order to update same. See link below for additional information.

The USPTO also recommends checking your application at least once every six months to ensure you have been receiving all of your emails and correspondence from the USPTO. A basic guideline describing the time-frame for your trademark application can be found at:

In addition to responding in a timely fashion as directed by instructions from the USPTO, and checking your application status as recommended, be sure to verify all your information is correct and contact the USPTO or your lawyer with any errors or concerns.
